Wasn't sure an expansion could make the hunger mechanic feel this tense, but this deck does it. The woodland encounters keep you scrambling for food in a way the base game never quite managed, and the new cards slot in without slowing anything down.
The Tanglewoods Gold Deck changes the whole feel of the base game — managing the hunger mechanic while still pushing through the woods gets genuinely tense. The art on these cards is gorgeous, and the new encounter variety kept my group replaying it all weekend.
The hunger mechanic in this deck actually made me rethink how I pace my runs, since you can't just ignore the food tokens. Mixed it into my solo sessions and the difficulty curve felt fresh without being punishing.
