Compare the Cloudspire Play Mat and Kollossum Playmat by size, material, and price to decide which Chip Theory Games playmat fits your table and budget.
Quick answer
Choose the Cloudspire Play Mat if you want a large, edge-stitched neoprene surface that wraps your table and supports full Cloudspire scenarios. Choose the Kollossum Playmat if you need a smaller, lower-cost mat for desk use or compact game setups.
Size and material: what changes at the table
The Cloudspire Play Mat measures 40 by 35.5 inches, so it covers a substantial play area and suits games with sprawling boards or multiple card zones. Its edge stitching helps contain the neoprene layer, which is useful if you move the mat between tables.
The Kollossum Playmat is listed at a lower price and is described for desk use as well as tabletop play. The catalog does not state its dimensions or material, so treat those as unknowns until you confirm them. If exact size matters for your table, measure first and check the product page for updated specifications.
Price and purpose: when the cheaper mat is the smarter buy
The Cloudspire Play Mat is listed at USD 36.57, compared with USD 59.95, while the Kollossum Playmat is listed at USD 13.57, compared with USD 19.95. That gap makes the Kollossum a low-risk add-on if you mainly want a themed surface for a desk or a small game.
The Cloudspire mat costs more because it is a larger neoprene mat with finished edges. If you already own Cloudspire and play it regularly, the size and theme are the main reasons to pay more. If you are buying for occasional use or as a gift, the Kollossum keeps the spend low.
Theme and table presence
The Cloudspire Play Mat uses the floating-isles setting of Ankar, so it visually matches Cloudspire scenarios. The Kollossum Playmat features a Tyrant character and is framed as a workday daydream. Neither mat changes gameplay; the choice is about atmosphere and how much space you want to dedicate.
Decision rules for choosing your playmat
- Measure your table first: If your table is at least 40 inches wide and 35.5 inches deep, the Cloudspire Play Mat can fit without overhang. If your space is smaller, choose the Kollossum or plan to play on a desk. A mat that overhangs the table edge curls and slides; measure before buying.
- Match the mat to the game you play most: Pick the Cloudspire Play Mat if Cloudspire is your main game and you want the Ankar theme across the whole table. Pick the Kollossum Playmat if you want a themed surface for desk work or smaller games.
- Set a budget ceiling: If you want to spend under USD 20, the Kollossum Playmat is the clear choice. If you are comfortable spending around USD 37, the Cloudspire mat gives you a larger neoprene surface with edge stitching. Check current sale prices; both mats are listed below their comparison prices.
- Confirm missing specs before checkout: The Kollossum listing does not state dimensions or material. If size or surface feel is critical, verify those details on the product page or choose the Cloudspire mat, whose size and neoprene construction are stated.
